Warren Sheppard
1858-1937 American. Born 10 April 1858, Greenwich, New Jersey. Worked at yacht design and in New York City with M.F.H.deHaas. Studied at Cooper Union, New York, New York. Died 1937, Greenwich, New Jersey. A marine painter, Warren Sheppard was a designer and navigator of yachts and sailed widely along the New England coast. He won the New York to Bermuda race and published an authoritative book titled “Navigation”.

He was also known for his canal scenes of Venice. He took art lessons from marine painter Maurice De Haas. Exhibited; Brooklyn Art Association 1874-81; National Academy 1880-99; St. Louis Exposition 1904; Albright A. Gallery; Toledo Museum of Art; Public Library, Springfield, Massachusetts; Addison Gallery of American Art; India House, New York, New York; Mystic Seaport, Mystic, Connecticut; Peabody-Essex Museum, Salem, Massachusetts.
