Frank Vining Smith
(1879-1967). Frank Vining Smith was born on 25 August 1879 in South Abington (now Whitman), Massachusetts. Where he was educated. Smith was a pupil at Boston Museum of Fine Arts under Frank Benson, Philip L. Hale, and Edmund C. Tarbell. He attended the Central Ontario School of Design in Toronto, Canada. In New York, Smith became a newspaper artist and cartoonist and attended the Art Students' League. During World War I he became a camouflage artist on vessels in Philadelphia and New York. He retired to Hingham, Massachusetts and died on 30 July 1967 in Hingham, Massachusetts.
